Welcome to the
Frank L. & Helen Childs Boyden Library
The Deerfield Academy library is named in honor of Frank L. Boyden, headmaster of the Academy from 1902-1968 and his wife, Helen Childs Boyden, a chemistry and math teacher. The library opened in 1968, the year that Mr. Boyden retired.
The Boyden Library supports the intellectual growth, personal exploration and creative opportunities offered Deerfield Academy students by providing a broad-based collection of more than 85,000 items, access to current online resources, comfortable spaces for individual or group study, and a staff eager to assist students.
This Virtual Tour is an introduction to the layout of the library, the resources and services available in the library, and the people who are available to provide assistance.

In days gone by, Mr. Boyden traveled around the Deerfield Academy campus and Deerfield in an open buggy rather than an automobile. This was his way of getting to know the members of both communities better. Our way of welcoming visitors to our library is to call the destinations on our tour "buggy stops" in memory of Mr. Boyden's spirit of community.
The menu above provides assistance with navigating the tour. The buggy at the top of the screen indicates which stop you are visiting.
Select Buggy Stop #2 below to continue the tour. At every stop on the tour, the option is available to view maps of the library. If you get lost, the Tour Site Map provides a list of all the stops on the tour.
We invite you to sit back and enjoy the ride! |
