Reference & Consultation

Reference Librarians assist students, faculty, and other library patrons with locating the information they seek. Librarians help their patrons to locate quality information efficiently.

Librarians staff the Reference Desk for most of the library's open hours in order to be available to patrons needing assistance. When the desk is busy, it is more difficult to provide individual attention to students.

Doing research can be a time consuming process. It is recommended that students make an appointment with a librarian to obtain assistance with their research.

The appointment can be scheduled at a time when the librarian is not providing reference service so the student receives the librarian's undivided attention. The librarian has an opportunity to plan for the appointment by exploring possible information sources in advance.
