Borrowing & Lending

The library is open to any individual who wishes to use materials inside the building. Students, staff, faculty, faculty families, alumni, faculty of Bement and EagleBrook schools and residents of the town of Deerfield may check materials out from the library.

Students must present their Greer card to check out library materials.

Boarding and Day students may have different loan rules before and during school breaks.

Non Circulating Materials

Reference, current periodicals, and special collections do not circulate. These items may be used only in the library.

Renewals

Materials may be renewed for an additional loan period in several ways:

  • At the Circulation Desk
  • Via email
  • By telephone (774-1510)
  • Online with My Account (requires your bar code--call 774-1510)

Reserves, Interlibrary Loans and items with a hold placed on them may not be renewed.

Returns

All patrons are expected to return materials on time. When the library is open, materials should be returned to the Circulation Desk. When the library is closed materials may be returned in the book return slot outside of the library.

Fines

Students will be charged $ .10 per item for each day that an item is overdue for most items. Interlibrary Loan, reserves, DVDs and videos carry a fine of $1.00 per item, per day. Fines may be paid at the Circulation Desk in cash for a 50% discount or the full fine amount may be charged to the student's Greer card.

Holds

Any patron may place a hold on any item currently checked out. Holds can be placed by circulation desk staff or online by the patron.

When a desired item is identified but checked out to another patron, click on the Request button. When prompted, enter your library bar code and a final date for receiving the item to place a hold.

Patrons will be notified via email when the item is available.

Lost Library Materials

Patrons will be charged a replacement fee, determined by the library, for any item not returned after a bill has been issued.

Confidentiality

Library staff does not disclose the titles of items a patron has borrowed. If a patron would like to check out an item that is currently checked out to another patron, library staff will be happy to put a hold on the item.
