How do I find books in a foreign language?

Are you away from home and would like to read a book in your native language? Are you learning a new language and want to practice reading it? You can use Interlibrary Loan to request a book in a foreign language!

In this library, fiction books in foreign languages and their translations and videos in a foreign language are located on the second floor with call numbers ranging from 830-890.

Through Interlibrary Loan, books are available in foreign languages through the Boston Public Library on a wide range of topics and in nearly 60 languages.

To make a request, see a Reference Librarian to complete a subject request Interlibrary Loan form or print the form, complete it, and bring it to the Reference Desk.

Requests may be for a specific subject such as "Romanian healthcare policy" or for a general subject such as "Korean fiction".

As many as a dozen items may be sent for general requests.

Materials are loaned for up to three months.
