How do I use databases and e-books at a computer off-campus?
- The research databases and electronic books are subscription products that the library purchases each year to support the curriculum and provide electronic access to quality information sources.
- The vendors that supply the databases require, through licensing agreements, that only individuals affiliated with Deerfield Academy be allowed access to these products.
- Because of these access agreements, the library uses a proxy server to allow access with an off-campus computer for students, faculty, and staff at Deerfield.
- Persons off-campus will be prompted for their network user name and password when they click on the link for an electronic product from the title list, the subject list, or through the catalog.
- If you do have any difficulty with this process, contact a Reference Librarian at (413) 774-1509.
